Hornblower Appreciation Week 2008

HAW 2008: March 31-April 6, 2008

Hornblower Appreciation Week (HAW) is the brainchild of sidhe, a fan who decided one day in 2006 that she had been taking Hornblower for granted and thus declared a week in honor of said fictional hero.  It is a happy coincidence that she chose the first week of April as the time of celebration as that particular period is at once the anniversary of Forester's death (April 2, 1966), the premiere of The Duel on A&E (April 4, 1999), and Gregory Peck's birthday (April 5, 1916).

To assist in the celebrations, Scaryfangirl.com hosts a creativity contest in conjunction with HAW so that fans can declare their love for Hornblower in any number of ways.  The winners receive a Hornblower-ish prize and the (dubious?) honor of being an HAW winner.
