Captain Horatio Hornblower Trivia
-
According to a
website on the sculptor Henry Fehr and his son, A. H. Fehr, Gregory Peck's
legs were so thin that he had to have his trousers padded for the filming!
-
Virginia Mayo was not the studio's first choice for the
character of Lady Barbara. The first actress who was chosen was Margaret
Leighton but she was cast aside after Warner Bros. chief, Jack Warner, saw her
screen test and declared, "She's no good, we need a leading lady with big
boobs so cast Mayo!'" (~From
a letter to Paul Welsh from Virginia Mayo.)
